Verathon Medical specializes in the development and manufacturing of Medical devices for difficult intubations and diagnostic tools for the urology market.

Verathon® designs, manufactures and distributes reliable, state-of-the-art medical devices and services that offer a meaningful improvement in patient care to the healthcare community.

Gerald McMorrow, electrical engineer and Vietnam veteran, founded the company in 1984 and has led the company throughout its transformation from a small start up to a profitable international corporation.

The company's flagship brand, BladderScan® bladder volume measurement instruments, is used in Urology, Acute Care, Primary Care, and Extended Care and is considered a standard of care.  Noninvasive and easy to use, the BladderScan helps prevent unnecessary urinary catheterizations, reduces rates of catheter-associated urinary tract infection, helps diagnose urinary-related problems such as enlarged prostate (BPH) and helps monitor post-operative urinary retention (POUR).

Verathon expanded its product portfolio with the acquisition of Saturn Biomedical Systems and the GlideScope® Video Laryngoscope (GVL) brand in January 2006.

GlideScope provides a consistently clear view of the airway, enabling quick intubation, and offers significant benefits to Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Military and Emergency Medicine markets. The company’s innovative GlideScope product line was introduced in 2001.

Verathon was ranked among the fastest growing technology companies in Washington State in Deloitte’s prestigious “Technology Fast 50” program in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Headquartered in Bothell, Washington, the company became a subsidiary of Roper Industries in 2009.
