Infants run the risk of heat loss and injury should transporting vehicle be involved in an accident or have to take evasive action. Transporting infants requires an environment that will keep them warm, safe and secure. The Baby Pod 20 is the culmination of year’s development with the aim of incorporating new technological developments and user requested features with the original Baby Pod 2.
The new Baby Pod 20 features many of the same qualities and features of its predecessor, but improves upon them in key ways. The viewing area in the Baby Pod 20 is larger and clearer than ever before, giving better visibility of the patient, particularly in restricted environments such as the interior of rotary aircraft where space is at a premium.
Due to the nature of the Baby Pod being used increasingly for air transport, the limitations of the original Baby Pod 2 lid opening mechanism became increasingly apparent. It’s outwardly opening lid sections not being convenient when operating in a tight space being a key challenge to overcome when designing a new evolution of the product.
To overcome this challenge, the whole front section of the Baby Pod 20 viewing lid now slides backwards over the rear section, giving unhindered access to the upper torso and head of the infant patient without increasing the height or width of the Baby Pod 20 whatsoever. This allows for access to the entire patient compartment, with no obstructions from either side of the unit. A feature critical where monitoring or ventilation equipment is placed necessarily by the side of the unit.
The Baby Pod 20’s new strapping system features high-tensile webbing typically found in motorsport and a metal quick connect buckle used in aviation, making it the most secure strapping system ever featured on a Baby Pod model. The new strapping system will now withstand up to 9kN of force, exceeding the current European ambulance specifications to which the Baby Pod 2 already met.
Inside the Baby Pod 20 features the same shock-absorbent foam interior as the Baby Pond 2, with removable, washable and autoclavable covers, now securely fastening directly to the inside of the carbon fibre shell. It also has upgraded vacuum mattress, allowing the infant positioning strapping to pass directly through the mattress outer foil to better secure the mattress around the patient.
A further development comes by way of the Co2 evacuation system, originally pioneered in AHT’s Evac Pod model. A medical air supply can be attached to the inlet on the front of the Baby pod 20, which then, using low-pressure and jet ow and mixing principles, draws any carbon dioxide that may have layered at the base of the unit, out of an exit valve on the underside of the shell. This in turn draws clean ambient air into the patient compartment via the patient access port in the viewing lid.

Transporting newborn infants requires an environment that will keep them safe and secure, and the only way to guarantee a warm environment for the baby without using a physically large and heavy transport incubator. These cumbersome incubators can be expensive, require dedicated vehicles and electricity supply in order to operate. The revolutionary Baby Pod range provides the security and warmth that a newborn needs, at a fraction of the cost of a standard transport incubator, in a light, easy to handle, and can attach to any transport stretcher available. Using the same technology, materials and design features that protect Formula 1 racing car drivers from injury during a crash, the Baby Pod range is the safest bet.
The Baby Pod 2 infant transport device was developed to fill a requirement for a safety-focus, easily manageable solution for inter/intra-hospital of neonates, applying the same practices of patient-safety, warmth and comfort to provide much needed solutions in other areas of in-hospital neonatal care. Typically, in the event of a road traffic accident, a conventional transport incubator could break free from its mounting, endangering the lives of both the patient and the crew members. The Baby Pod 2’s carbon/ composite fibre construction allows for a transport device with dramatically reduced weight from a typical solution.
The Baby Pod 2 has been tested with an acceleration of 1okg in all directions representing a crash at 55 kilometres per hour (30 mph) and is the only transport device world-wide tested and approved to this standard. Inside the unit, the infant is comfortably secured in position by a vacuum mattress and soft infant positioning straps. The vacuum is moulded around the patient then the air is removed with the aid of a vacuum pump to hold the mattress in shape. This provides a soft, yet rigid support for the infant during transit.
Ventilators and oxygen therapy equipment can be easily attached to the pod using custom designed brackets with access ports allowing tubing and direct patient contact without every opening the pod. Warmth is provided by the clinically proven TransWarmer ® Infant Transport Mattress. This unique exothermic gel, mattress provides a constant 38°C (100˚F) temperature for up to two hours.
The Baby Pod 2 weighs only 9.5kg and is intended for the infants up to 8 kg allowing a single person to easily lift and maneuver the pod.
Baby Pod 2 is completely non-metallic, X-ray translucent and MRI compatible. It consists of a lightweight carbon fibre outer shell, which is lined with shock absorbent foam inner layers and has a transparent lid for viewing and accessibility.
Additional components can easily be mounted to the unit itself or stretcher on which the Baby Pod 2 is secured for transfer to the ambulance vehicle. Optional brackets to the mount syringe drivers, pumps and ventilators are available. This additional equipment can be mounted on the head or foot end of the pod with access through scientific slots in the lid. A flexible, multi-directional holder inside the Baby Pod 2, helps keep the tubing for this additional equipment in the place within the pod environment.

The B3 is able to create an environment with temperature, humidity and oxygen concentration suitable for newborns. This is the world's first specialized neonatal incubator with therapeutic functions. Abdominal breathing sensors are used to accurately monitor the newborn's breathing. When a newborn has apnea, the alarm tied to its foot will trigger vibrations to wake up the newborn, which helps to reduce the risk of suffocation.
Apnea -Wake up Function: when the Apnea Detection Set parameters (Respiration, SP02 and HR) drop, the sensor on the baby’s foot vibrates and stimulates the baby when having an apnea to wake up and start breathing again.

The TI.3000A Transport Incubator is a compact, multifunctional solution designed to ensure neonatal safety and stability during intra- and inter-hospital transport.
